I’ll be back!’ said the Terminator (1984). ‘I shall return’ was the iconic phrase of General MacArthur (WWII, 1942). For many centuries, millions of believers have recited or proclaimed the Christian Creed’s line: ‘He will come again.’ 

Many people look upon God with fear and think of him as hard and unforgiving. The devil tries to make people see God as a severe judge, without pity, watching for people to make mistakes, so he can punish them. To show them that this is not true, Jesus came to live in this world.

This decade has been like no other. At a global scale, we witnessed the first pandemic of our lifetime, the return of major war to Europe, and the explosion of AI and crypto, with all their risks. Many observers fear for humanity’s future. Some even wonder if the world as we know it could end before the decade is out. 

Can anyone change your mind? Probably not . . . surely not on the things that matter, such as values, personal tastes, or beliefs. But at times you may simply discover something so good, so powerful, that you cannot unsee it, and then choose a different path. 

A child born in Silicon Valley will live a different life than one born in North Korea. One whose first sight is Greenland’s icebergs will aim for a different horizon than one carried on his mother’s back through sub-Saharan Africa. What about a child born in Palestine? In the small town of Bethlehem.
